Two Renault and Peugeot companies have never entered into a contract with Iran, so there was not any contract to be repealed, it was just some negotiations and promises which has been excluded.

The main reason for the departure of Renault and Peugeot was due to the secession in the implementation of contracts, not the sanctions.

Gostaresh News: These days, controversial and strange news from the authorities is about keeping French car companies in Iran. On the one hand, the Minister of Industry says Peugeot and Renault have brought about 170 million dollars to Iran and are interested in continuing to work with us; on the other hand, a member of Iranian Automobile Importers Association (IAIA) announces that Renault has long been clogging Iran and Peugeot is about to leave. It is interesting to note that the joint sessions held on this issue will provide different outputs based on personal desires of the officials. A few days ago, the deputy minister of industry expressed confidence in details of the meetings of the Ministry of Industry with French automakers and announced the establishment of joint cooperation packages, while statements by a member of the Parliament’s Committee on Industry and Mining confirmed that the outcome of the meeting had not been definite. The Ministry of industry has a little hope about staying of Peugeot and Renault companies. Perhaps the reason for all this inconsistency is that they do not want to tell people all the reality, or they themselves are so afraid of losing these companies, therefore they prefer to be hopeful about returning these companies.
Officials should speak clear with people

“Our authorities face behavioral problems in front of the people and the media and they always want to show people that everything is fine, while it reduces people’s trust in them and social frustration,” the secretary of the IAIA said in a statement. .

Mehdi Dadfar continued: Two Renault and Peugeot companies have never entered into a contract with Iran, so there was not any contract to be repealed, it was just some negotiations and promises which has been excluded.

He noted that the French company Renault has announced the exit from Iran on 5th of May, but unfortunately, officials do not want to go under the burden of this and still hope for the return. Therefore, officials should speak clear with the people and state the facts in this regard.
Our fault for leaving of Renault and Peugeot was not less than the effect of sanctions

Secretary of the IAIA emphasized that Peugeot will follow Renault, and its probability of staying in Iran is zero; we are not happy at all.
Dadfar continued, “Leaving Iran by these two major companies to a certain extent, was due to procrastination of contracts’ execution.”

Dadfar continued: “For about a year and a half, both of these two companies, Peugeot and Renault, were delaying the process of implementing contracts, while if we had timely action and did not take this process so much time, now they were working with us.”

No results were obtained from the ministry of industry and French automakers meetings.
Member of Parliament’s Committee on Industry and Mines also said in a statement, “It is unlikely that Peugeot will stay in Iran with the pressure of America.
